Practice owner

  • Patrick K. Skipton , DVM

When I was eight years old, I decided that I was going to become a veterinarian. That was a decision I have never to this day regretted. I enjoy being a veterinarian as much now as when I graduated from the University of Florida Veterinary School in 1982. I grew up in the Washington, DC area and attended the University of Maryland. Our family has lived in Damascus since 1985. Through my three children, Josh, Drew, and Rose, I have been involved in local youth sports,
4-H, and community fairs. Besides spending time with my family and my two dogs, I love sports and gardening. Woodfield Veterinary Clinic allows me to do what I love, practice veterinary medicine and help people.

Veterinarians

  • Erin H. Spelman , DVM

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a veterinarian. Most of my growing up years were spent in Tennessee. I completed my undergraduate studies at Berry College in Rome, Georgia. I then attended the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2000. My husband Paul and I have twin boys, Jeremy and Billy and a daughter Janie. Our two furry children are cats, Jacob and Marvin. I enjoy seeing the variety of animals that come into our clinic. I believe that each animal is unique and sometimes requires unique solutions for their medical problems and care. While most of my classmates are on their second and third practice, I have been at Woodfield Veterinary Clinic since my graduation. That is entirely due to the people I work with and for the family atmosphere that is present here. My hobbies are my children and occasionally scrapbooking. Vetsuite_Img_46136

  • Les Goldsmith , VMD, Ph.D.

Long time clients of Woodfield Veterinary Clinic might remember me as I started the practice in the 1980's and now I have proven that "you can come home again". I grew up in Montgomery County leaving to attend the University of Miami where I graduated in 1972. While studying at the University, I became determined to follow my dreams to become a veterinarian. I subsequently went to graduate school at the University of Rhode Island earning a masters and Ph. D. degrees before graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. My wife Connie and our two girls, Beth and Kate, helped start the Woodfield Veterinary Clinic before we joined Johnson and Johnson to use all of my educational training. I was responsible for the safety, regulatory and medical affairs for the new no-calorie sweetener Splenda. After the success of Splenda, Connie and I returned to the area and my first love, clinical veterinary medicine. Vetsuite_Img_46304
